It is common for many of us to need that extra bit of space in the home but circumstances often make it difficult to move or build an extension. However, the addition of a conservatory can offer you the space you need at a price that suits.

Conservatories were once an expensive extravagance for those who had plenty of money and they were often used to grow plants during the winter months. This means that their limited use and the extensive costs meant that they were not in reach of the average household.
Over time, improvements were made in the materials used to build a conservatory which means that they did evolve and become a common site in many homes. As insulation improved, heating and glazing it meant that a conservatory could become a very adaptable feature of any home. Below are ten possible uses for a conservatory.

1. Additional sitting room

Many people long to have a second sitting room, a room that can be used for reading or just relaxing and a conservatory allows this because having an extra sitting room, designed in a style that suits can offer huge benefits.

2. Office Space
Conservatories are the perfect environment for working because they offer an abundance of light and can be seen as a room that is set apart from the rest of the house becoming a kind of sanctuary. If working from home is a requirement of the job then having the space to house the required office furniture will make it a more dedicated room that can help to increase productivity.

3. Dining

In our hectic lifestyles, sitting around a table seems like a thing of the past. However, if you want to make your meal times more family orientated, using a conservatory as a dining room can work wonders. Having completely clear views of your garden whilst dining is great plus they are perfect for dinner parties.

4. Cultivating Plants
Many people like to be surrounded by greenery in the home but a home without a conservatory can mean that space is limited and poor light makes it difficult to grow. A conservatory is the ideal place to grow plants, after all that is what they were once used for!

5. Extending the kitchen
The kitchen is now the hub of any home and it is not just the place to prepare and cook food because it is also a place where we entertain. Some kitchens can lack space and seating which means that opening your kitchen up to a conservatory can give it a lease of life. It is not just the space that you will gain but also huge amounts of natural light.

6. Summer Room
The British summers are known to lack large amounts of sunshine which means that when the sun does come out a conservatory can help you to make the most of it, even on those spring and autumn days where it still may be too fresh to head out into the garden.

7. Breakfast time

Breakfast time, is a time traditionally known to be spent around the table with family. However, many houses do not have the space available to make this a possibility so adding a conservatory will ensure that you can start your day in the best way possible.

8. Play room means play time
As families grow so does the need for space and with the amount of toys and equipment that comes with having a family increases it is common for people to find themselves without sufficient space. Using the conservatory as a place where children can play, it gives you somewhere to store all of their toys whilst having a room they can call their own.

9. Keeping fit
Staying healthy is a main priority for many people but why not surrender your gym membership and turn your conservatory into a gym? The bright light and sunshine can really motivate you to train all in the comfort of your own home.
